WhatsApp Showed Anomalous Behavior – Last Seen & Online Status Were Missing
Last Seen, Online, Typing Removed. What’s going on?
This was the statement of most of the WhatsApp users on 19 June 2020.
On 19 June 2020, People faced technical glitches in WhatsApp in the night which is a messaging application.
Exactly what happened to WhatsApp?
It appears that there is a problem with the WhatsApp Privacy Settings & Login connection issue. Due to which people cannot see their contacts Last seen, Online, and Typing.. status. And when they attempted to change the settings, the following messages appear on the mobile screen.
“Failed to update privacy settings, please try again letter.”
Besides this, it can be seen that users were unable to register new accounts with WhatsApp and couldn’t log in with their existing account. It was advised that users do not uninstall the WhatsApp until a fix is found.

According to downdetector.com, the first WhatsApp issue detected at 8:00 PM on June 19, 2020.
Adding to it, approximately 64% of users have reported automatically change in the Last Seen Settings, 26 % of users have complained about connection issues, and 8 % of users faced issues while login to WhatsApp.
Who was Affected the most When WhatsApp is Down?
This issue had been seen in the Android & iPhone users of India, US, UK, Europe and other parts of Asia.
Just after this issue, users have posted about the WhatsApp error on social media, including Twitter. The hashtag #whatsappdown is currently trending on twitter.
Fake News About WhatsApp “New Features” Experiment
Nowadays, fake news is just like a mandatory component that comes with every news automatically. Similarly, when the WhatsApp last seen went missing, many users were spreading the fake news that WhatsApp is experimenting with some new features where users would hide their online status. As well as, many news also stated that WhatsApp will disable the blue tick feature soon.
Although, all these news are fake and no such development is taken place by the WhatsApp team.
WhatsApp Last Seen & Login Issues are Fixed!
The WABetaInfo also confirmed the issue and posted the following statement on their Twitter handle.
“WhatsApp has fixed all issues now: enjoy spying last seen and online status now! #whatsappdown”
Like any other application, WhatsApp also faces issues. However, this technical glitch is not major and everyone’s data is safe.
